AEL PFAS TESTING SOLUTIONS

Advanced Environmental Laboratories, Inc. (AEL) is a leading provider of environmental laboratory testing, renowned for our exceptional quality and customer service. We specialize in PFAS analysis, utilizing advanced Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in our state-of-the-art lab. Through the isotope dilution method, we achieve low reporting limits that align with EPA regulatory guidelines for safe drinking water.

In addition to drinking water, we test PFAS across a variety of matrices, including groundwater, surface water, wastewater, soil/sediment, leachate, and hazardous waste. Our diverse client base includes cities, counties, municipalities, consultants, engineers, the Department of Defense (DoD), and other federal agencies.

The Value We Offer

Accordion Content
  • Diverse Methods: We provide a wide range of EPA-approved testing methods, including EPA 533, 537.1, 1633, and UCMR 5, covering drinking water, groundwater, surface water, soils, sediments, and biosolids.
  • We now offer EPA-approved screening methods ASTM D8421/EPA 8327, which provide fast reliable results at a lower cost than EPA 1633. These screening methods eliminate the preparation step, reducing both sample volume and waste. Additionally, they use isotope dilution calibration for complete recovery and achieve method detection limits (MDLs) in the single-digit parts per trillion (ppt).
  • Accreditations: AEL is a nationally certified DoD-ELAP Laboratory. We also hold certifications with several states and the Caribbean including the Florida Department of Health, TNI/NELAC, and ISO-17025.
  • AEL offers the highest testing capacity of any Small Business Enterprise (SBE) in the environmental lab industry, combining the personalized service and flexibility of a small business with the resources and nationwide reach of a large laboratory network.
  • Competitive Turnaround: We offer competitive turnaround times, with options for expedited results.
  • State-of-the-Art Equipment: We utilize the latest laboratory instrumentation for comprehensive PFAS analysis including automated solid phase extraction (SPE) equipment to enhance sample throughput.
  • Skilled Personnel: Our team of experienced analysts and project managers deliver accurate and dependable results. Our PFAS department operates seven days a week to ensure optimal utilization of our instrumentation.

  • Advanced Reporting Capabilities: AEL supplies Level IV and CLP like data packages, a wide range of electronic data deliverables (EDDs), as well as custom reports upon request.
  • Rigorous Standards: We uphold strict quality control for consistent and accurate PFAS testing, supporting project decision making and ensuring legally defensible data.
  • Regulatory Compliance: AEL stays current with evolving PFAS regulations to ensure your testing approach is compliant and informed. Our PFAS methods are compliant with the latest approved EPA methods and DOD QSM 6.0.
  • Continuous Research: We continuously enhance our PFAS testing capabilities, capacity, and resources to meet future industry challenges.
  • Expanding Laboratory Space: AEL has commenced construction on an expansion of the Jacksonville, FL laboratory campus that will add 8,400 sf of new lab space dedicated to PFAS testing in 2025.

  • Many communities rely on underground aquifers or surface waters, including rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, for their drinking water. AEL offers a variety of testing services to detect PFAS in non-potable water (including groundwater), aiding local governments and industries in their remediation and management efforts.
  • In an EPA study, PFAS was discovered in 95% of landfill effluent samples tested, suggesting it as a likely source of contamination. AEL provides effluent testing services for municipal, industrial, and private landfill operators.
  • Soil and sediment can be contaminated with PFAS through sources like landfill effluent, wastewater discharge, biosolids, storm water runoff, and more. Other point sources, such as Aqueous Film Forming Foams (AFFF) can also contaminate soils near military installations and firefighting training facilities. AEL offers PFAS testing for soil, sediment, and various solids to support soil cleanup activities.
  • As part of our mission to help protect public health, AEL provides drinking water testing using approved EPA methods 533 and 537.1. Our testing meets all limits listed in the final National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
  • AEL is certified under the EPA’s UCMR 5 Program to perform testing for 29 PFAS compounds using EPA Methods 533 and 537.1. We have provided UCMR testing for hundreds of Public Water Systems across the US since the UCMR 5 program began in January 2023.
  • PFAS can be found in most industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities due to the ubiquitous nature of PFAS compounds. AEL supports the detection and source tracing of PFAS through National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and industrial pre-treatment program laboratory services.
  • AEL has standardized around approved Method 1633 for analysis of 44 compounds in wastewater and biosolids originating from wastewater treatment facilities.
