Qualifications

Education:

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field

Experience:

  • Two or more years as an Analyst II, or five years of experience at another analytical laboratory
  • Previous experience in organics analysis or research preferred (willing to train the right candidate)
  • Strong familiarity with GC, GC-MS, and extraction techniques
  • Advanced instrument care and maintenance
  • Managerial experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare environmental samples for analysis, including extraction and filtration
  • Operate and maintain gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation
  • Assist in developing and validating new testing methods in compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and precision of data
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and generate reports for clients and regulatory agencies
  • Stay up to date with evolving regulations to ensure compliance with environmental testing standards
  • Collaborate with the Client Service Group to understand project needs and provide technical support
  • Maintain accurate records of sample analysis, quality control, and instrument maintenance
  • Train and mentor junior analysts, supporting professional growth and development

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience analyzing environmental samples across multiple matrices using GC and GC-MS
  • Knowledge of EPA-approved methods, including EPA 8270, EPA 8260, EPA 8081, EPA 8082, and Florida Petroleum Range Organics (FL-PRO)
  • Ability to prepare calibration curves and quality control samples
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for laboratory instrumentation
  • Experience with method validations, SOP development, and root cause analysis
  • Ability to manage inventory and proactively request supply orders
  • Experience training, scheduling, and supervising junior analysts and technicians

Compensation & Work Schedule

  • Salary: $60,000 – $80,000, based on experience
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (Weekends as needed)
  • Location: On-site in Miramar, FL
