Job description – Environmental Laboratory Project Manager

We are currently looking for a full-time experienced Project Manager with a minimum of 5+ years of experience to join our team.

This role offers flexibility to work remotely (candidates must reside in Florida), or be in one of our Florida laboratories in Altamonte Springs, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Lake Placid, Miami, Tampa, or Tallahassee. Some roles may be a hybrid remote/in-person schedule depending on individual lab needs.

This is a full-time position with benefits as follows: Health Insurance (60% paid by AEL), vision and dental; paid time off, 7 paid holidays, 1 (8 hours) Floating Holiday; FSA/HSA; short- and long-term disability paid by AEL (no charge to employees) and life term also paid by AEL. Volunteer hours are also available (up to 4 per year) and social events.

AEL Laboratories business hours are 8 AM – 5 PM, with operational hours to include 7 AM – 7 PM Monday through Friday. Peak times could require to work 7 days a week, including holidays when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Project Manager (PM) will become familiar with the complexities of the ongoing project work within their functional working group and work with the Project Management Team and Sample Receiving.

Education: AA in Chemistry, Environmental Science or equivalent
Experience: 5+ years of laboratory or sample receiving experience
Effective communicator, multi-tasking, computer/clerical, math/chemistry a plus. Past project management experience from a similar or related technical field.

Basic Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Fosters and develops client relationships in support of AEL mission
•  Provides prompt quotations and proposals for projects
•  Aids in defining scope of work and needs of clients
•  Delivers excellent customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to client needs
•  Assists with sample handling activities including receiving and LIMS login
•  Confirms any data anomalies with the laboratory before submitting to clients
•  Tracks status of client projects
•  Assure client deadlines and contract requirements are met
•  Prepare reports and invoices for client projects
•  Assist with marketing and sales efforts; forwards opportunities and leads to CSM and/or LM
•  Follows AEL LIMS electronic workflow as instructed
•  Provides electronic deliverables (EDDs) in a timely manner when applicable
•  Manages communications with laboratory staff regarding special project requirements or issues
•  Handles arrangements with subcontracts if needed for project completion
•  Manages projects within budgets when applicable; completes specific project tasks according to deadlines and within budget
•  Attend and participate in the daily status meeting
•  May attend conferences, tradeshows, and other industry events for professional growth and visibility of AEL brand
•  Lead program level or high profile work depending on past experience
•  Follows policies outlined in the AEL Employee Handbook
•  Reports directly to the Client Services Manager
