On November 20, 2024, the EPA introduced an exciting new initiative to tackle PFAS contamination in small or underserved communities. PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” can pose serious health risks, from certain cancers to developmental issues in kids. This initiative, part of the EPA’s Water Technical Assistance program, aims to ensure everyone has access to safe, clean drinking water.
Over the next three years, 200 communities will get free support, including water testing, advice on treatment options, and training to help manage emerging contaminants. Thanks to $5 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, this program provides the tools and expertise needed to fight water pollution and create healthier environments.
